Bomb threat emails were received at several Delhi schools on Monday, prompting investigations by the Delhi Police, Bomb Disposal Squad, and fire department.
New Delhi:Bomb threat emails were received at several schools in Delhi on Monday morning. The first threat was reported at 6:15 am for GD Goenka in Paschim Vihar, followed by a second at 7:00 am for Delhi Public School (DPS) in RK Puram.
The Delhi Police, along with Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) teams and fire department officials, rushed to the locations to investigate the threats. The school administrations sent the students back home, and both the fire and police departments were notified at 7 am.
Several schools, including Mother Mary’s School, British School, Salwan Public School, Modern School, Cambridge School, a few DAV schools, and others, received bomb threats on Monday. Reportedly, more than 40 schools received bomb threat calls so far.Further details are awaited as authorities continue their investigation.
Earlier on November 19, the Delhi High Court instructed the Delhi Government and Delhi Police to develop a comprehensive action plan, including a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address bomb threats and related emergencies.
The Court has set a deadline of eight weeks for the completion of these directives. The SOP must define the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders–law enforcement, school management, and municipal authorities–ensuring smooth coordination and effective implementation, said the Court.The bench of Justice Sanjeev Narula, while addressing an application moved by Advocate Arpit Bhargava, directed the Delhi Government and Delhi Police to finalise a comprehensive action plan, including a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address bomb threats and related emergencies.
