This system is expected to bring very heavy rainfall on December 18 and 19, with rain continuing in parts of Chennai until December 20. An orange alert has been issued for districts like Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Puducherry, along with heavy rainfall warnings for others.
Light rain is likely to begin in Chennai by Tuesday afternoon, intensifying into heavy downpours by Wednesday. Residents are advised to stay alert as the weather conditions develop.”The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to mid tropospheric levels. It is likely to move northwestwards towards North Tamil Nadu South Andhra Pradesh coast during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly northwards along Andhra Pradesh coast during the subsequent 24 hours.”
