On January 11, light to moderate rain is likely in a few places in interior Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, Chennai has been experiencing cold weather with a drop in the maximum temperature during the morning hours. The temperature is expected to reduce by two to three degrees Celsius for the next few days in the city and suburbs.

Additionally, ground frost is likely to occur at isolated pockets over higher hill ranges of the Nilgiris.Gale winds with speeds of 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph are likely over west-central Arabian Sea. Fishermen are advised not to venture out into the sea duirng this time period.
