Chennai Traffic Advisory: Key Roads Closed For Four Days Ahead Of Republic Day Celebrations; Check Alternative Routes.

Chennai Traffic Advisory: Chennai Traffic Police have implemented diversions and restrictions for Republic Day celebrations on January 26 and rehearsals on January 20, 22, and 24. Kamarajar Salai will be closed from 6 AM to 9:30 AM, affecting both public and commercial transport. Additional diversions and temporary bus terminus changes are also in place.

Chennai Traffic Advisory: In preparation for the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, the Greater Chennai City Traffic Police (GCTP) have implemented traffic diversions and restrictions in the city. These changes will also affect rehearsals scheduled for January 20, 22 and 24 on Kamarajar Salai.

Chennai Republic Parade Traffic Advisory: Starting from 6:00 AM on these dates, the stretch between the Gandhi Statue and War Memorial on Kamarajar Salai will be completely closed to all vehicular traffic until the completion of the events, which is expected to be around 9:30 AM.

For commercial vehicles travelling from Adyar towards Parrys Corner, diversions will be in effect at Greenways Point. These vehicles will be redirected onto R.K. Mutt Road, continuing through Thiruvenkadam Street, Devanathan Street, St. Mary’s Road and several other roads, ultimately reaching Broadway.

Public transport vehicles, including MTC buses, coming from Adyar towards Parrys Corner will also be diverted at the Gandhi Statue. These buses will take a similar route, heading towards R.K. Salai and other connecting roads to Broadway.

Vehicles arriving from Mylapore and Dr. Radhakrishnan Road at the Royapettah I Point will be required to turn left towards Nilgiris, Music Academy, and other designated roads to reach their destinations. Other vehicles can make left or right turns as needed to navigate their routes.

Access to Kamarajar Salai will be restricted. No vehicles will be allowed past the Dr. Natesan Road and Avvai Shanmugam Salai junction towards Kamarajar Salai; these vehicles will be redirected towards Ice House Junction. Similarly, vehicles will not be permitted beyond the Dr. Besant Road-Dr. Kamarajar Salai junction, with diversions set at Ice House Junction towards T.H. Road.

Further restrictions will apply at Bharathi Salai and Bells Road junctions. Vehicles attempting to travel towards Kamarajar Salai will be diverted to Bells Road. Additionally, no vehicles will be granted access to Flag Staff House Road from Wallajah Point towards War Memorial.

The Anna Square Bus Terminus will be temporarily relocated to the Chintadripet Railway Station during this period. Vehicles heading from Parrys Corner to Adyar will be diverted at the R.B.I. Subway (North), directing them towards Raja Annamalai Mandram. From there, they will proceed left towards Muthusamy Point and continue through several roads, including Anna Salai and General Patters Road, to reach their destinations.
