Metrowater announced that Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) will carry out pipeline interconnection work at Purasawalkam High Road in Anna Nagar zone (Zone 8) from 8 a.m. on May 24 to 8 a.m. on May 25. As a result, piped water supply will be disrupted in several areas across five zones. In zone 4, Tondiarpet will witness a disruption in supply.
In the Royapuram zone (zone 5), areas such as Purasawalkam, Periamedu, Egmore, Sowcarpet, and Chintadripet will not receive piped metro water during this period. At least eight areas — Otteri, Ayanavaram, Perambur, Sembium, Kilpauk, Villivakkam, Kellys, and Triplicane in the Thiru Vi Ka Nagar zone (zone 6), Anna Nagar zone (zone 8), and Teynampet zone (zone 9) are also expected to be affected by the interruption in drinking water supply, the statement added, as per a TOI report.However, residents are advised to store an adequate quantity of drinking water in advance to meet their needs during the 24 hours.
