The BJP president stressed that the people are upset with the state of roads, further announcing that the ‘rasta roko’ will be held for one hour on Wednesday.
Amid the ongoing frustration against pothole-ridden roads in Bengaluru, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stage “rasta roko” (Road Blockade) protest on September 24 (Wednesday) across Karnataka, raising their voices against the poor conditions of roads in Bengaluru and all across the state.
BJP President BY Vijayendra announced the protest, as Congress is currently facing criticism over the potholes across the state and poor roads and infrastructure.
He further said, “People are upset with the state of roads. We will hold ‘Rasta Roko’ for one hour from 11 am,” adding that the protests will take place across the state, whether it is Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Vijayapura, or Kalaburgi.Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday promised that all such roads would be repaired within one month. He also issued official orders to begin the repair work immediately.
He said that the chief engineers will be held responsible if the work is not finished on time. The chief minister further said that the government has set aside ₹750 crore for road repairs. He shared that workers have already filled about 6,000 potholes, but 8,000 more still need fixing.
Siddaramaiah warned officials not to compromise on the quality of the repair work on roads. “I will hold two meetings in the next month. I will take strict action if any shortcoming is found,” he said.
