Delhi’s air quality remains “very poor,” with an average AQI of 308 reported on Sunday. The situation is expected to persist throughout the week, as forecasts indicate no substantial improvement in pollution levels. Despite a slight rise in temperatures due to a western disturbance, conditions will largely remain unchanged, with a mix of fog and partly cloudy skies.
Delhi Weather: Delhi’s air quality continued to remain in the “very poor” category on Sunday and is expected to stay in the same range throughout the coming week, even as temperatures saw a slight rise due to a prevailing western disturbance. Forecasts issued by the Centre’s Air Quality Early Warning System (EWS) indicate no major improvement in pollution levels in the days ahead.
Delhi recorded a 24-hour average AQI of 308 on Sunday, compared to 330 on Saturday, both categorised as very poor by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The city has remained stuck in the “very poor” range for most of this winter, with a stretch of three consecutive ‘severe’ days between 11 and 13 November.
IMD’s seven-day forecast shows a mix of partly cloudy skies, shallow fog and haze through the early mornings. Light north-westerly winds are expected on most days, with speeds ranging between 5–20 km/hr depending on the time of day.
Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 8°C on Sunday, two notches below normal, but higher than Saturday’s 6.8°C and Friday’s season-low of 5.6°C. Meteorologists attribute the rise to increased moisture and partially cloudy skies, which trap heat during the night.A brief period of stronger winds — around 15–20 km/hr — may be observed on Monday, aiding slight, temporary improvement in air quality.
