Suspected Pakistani Drones Spotted Along LoC and IB; Search Operations Launched in J&K

Security forces in Jammu & Kashmir have stepped up border vigilance after suspected Pakistani drones were observed hovering over forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) on Sunday evening.

Officials reported that multiple unmanned aerial objects originating from the Pakistan side were detected over Samba, Rajouri and Poonch districts. The flying objects briefly entered Indian airspace, hovered near sensitive locations, and then retreated back toward Pakistan. In response, ground search operations were launched by the Army and allied security agencies to check for any suspicious material or payloads that might have been dropped during the incursions.

In the Nowshera sector of Rajouri, troops reportedly opened fire with medium and light machine guns after spotting drone movements over Gania‑Kalsian village. Another drone‑like object was seen over Khabbar village in the Teryath area of Rajouri. In Samba district, an object hovered above Chak Babral village for several minutes, and a similar sighting was reported near Topa in the Mankote sector of Poonch.

These sightings come days after security forces recovered an arms consignment — including pistols, rounds of ammunition and a grenade — allegedly dropped by a drone in Paloora village near the IB in Samba district. Authorities have heightened their alert level across the border regions, deploying coordinated search and surveillance measures to ensure no contraband or weaponry has been introduced into Indian territory during the drone activity.
