BMC elections polling ends January 15, with vote counting on January 16. Mumbai Traffic Police enforces curbs in Dadar and Worli, urging commuters to follow diversions.
Polling for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections will conclude at 6 pm on January 15, after which Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be collected and stored in designated strong rooms. Vote counting will take place on January 16, 2026, at the same locations, officials said.
To facilitate the smooth conduct of polling, counting and movement of election material, the Mumbai Traffic Police has announced a series of traffic restrictions across parts of Dadar and Worli between January 14 and January 16.
Motorists have been advised to avoid these roads and follow traffic diversions and instructions issued by personnel on duty.
Vote counting will be carried out at the strong room located at the BMC Engineering Hub on Dr E. Moses Road, Worli. Anticipating large crowds, traffic regulations will be enforced from 5 am on January 16 until midnight.Dr E. Moses Road (Worli Naka to Dainik Shivner Marg):
No parking on both lanes Entry restrictions will be imposed as required Essential services, government vehicles, police, fire brigade, ambulances and vehicles authorised by the Election Commission will be exempted.
Alternate routes during counting: Vehicles travelling from Mahalaxmi Railway Station to Worli Naka should turn right at Nehru Science Centre and proceed via Dainik Shivner Marg and Shiram Mill Naka. Vehicles travelling from Worli Naka towards Mahalaxmi should use Ganpatrao Kadam Marg, Shiram Mill Naka and Dainik Shivner Marg.
EVM Distribution and Collection at Jambori Maidan Additional restrictions have been imposed for EVM distribution and collection at Jambori Maidan on GM Bhosale Marg, Worli, from 12.01 am on January 14 until midnight on January 15.
