With the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation set to undertake pipeline work linked to the Metro Line 7A, Mumbai’s five wards will experience low-pressure or suspended water supply for three days starting January 20, The work will be carried out for around 44 hours, from 9 am on Tuesday (January 20) to Thursday (January 22). According to the BMC, water supply will either be reduced or completely shut in parts of G North, K East, S, H East and N wards, with changes in regular supply timings.
The BMC has urged residents to store water. As a precautionary measure, citizens have also been advised to boil and filter drinking water for the next few days. The civic administration has appealed for public cooperation while the essential infrastructure work is completed.
What is the Metro-7A work?
Pipeline connection work on a section of diverted Upper Vaitarna main water pipeline in K East Ward. The pipeline is being diverted for construction of Metro 7A.
Areas to be hit :
G North Ward (Dharavi): Morning and evening supply zones will receive low-pressure water during revised hours on January 20 and 21.
K East Ward (Andheri East and surrounding areas): MIDC, Marol, Chakala, Airport area, SEEPZ and surrounding residential and industrial zones will face a complete water shutdown on January 20 and 21. Some pockets will receive water at low pressure during evening hours, while a few early-morning supply areas will remain shut on January 21.
S Ward (Bhandup West, Vikhroli West, Kanjurmarg West): Low-pressure supply in some areas, while areas such as Moraji Nagar, Gautam Nagar, Jaybhim Nagar and BEST Nagar will face a cut.
H East Ward: Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Motilal Nagar area will receive low-pressure water at night on January 20 and 21.
N Ward (Ghatkopar and Vikhroli): Godrej Compound, R City Mall, Kailash Complex and adjoining localities will experience low-pressure water supply during regular timings on January 20 and 21.
