Wakad, 19th January 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police have announced significant traffic diversions and road closures scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, to facilitate the “Pune Grand Tour.” The cycling event, organized jointly by the Pune District Administration, the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), and the United Cycling Confederation (UCC), is modeled after the prestigious Tour de France. Stage 1 of the race will pass through the Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune Rural jurisdictions.
Timing and Restrictions:
According to the notification issued by DCP (Traffic) Vivek Patil, traffic restrictions will be in place from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. During this period, all vehicles (except emergency services and race-related vehicles) are prohibited from entering the race routes.
Summary of Major Diversions:
Hinjawadi Division:
•Roads leading from Bhoirwadi Gaothan to the Helipad Circle are closed. Traffic will be diverted via internal roads to Capitol and Marunji.
•Routes from Symphony Society to Babuji Buwa Temple and Hinjawadi Phase-3 are restricted.
•Closures are enforced at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Chowk, Lakshmi Chowk, Mezza-9 Chowk, and Kasturi Chowk. Commuters are advised to use routes via Tata T-Junction, Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, and Indian Oil Chowk.
Dehu Road Division:
•Traffic from Krishna Traders to PDCC Bank is banned; commuters must use internal village roads. •Heavy vehicles are prohibited from Parandwadi Phata to Bebad Ohol.
Nigdi Division:
•Major closures include routes from Chaphekar Chowk to Walhekarwadi, Chinchwad Nagar to Chinchwadenagar, and Bhakti Shakti to Triveni Hospital.
•Traffic from Ravet via Royal Casa and Iskcon Temple is diverted.
•Vehicles from Old Jakat Naka heading towards River View Chowk are restricted.
Wakad Division:
•The route from Bhumkar Chowk to Dange Chowk is closed. Diversions are in place via Decathlon/Tathawade Underpass.
•Traffic from Jaguar Showroom to Bhumkar Chowk and Phoenix Mall to Kalakhadak Signal is restricted.
•Diversions are planned for Dange Chowk, Barne Corner, and Hanging Bridge areas.
