The national capital woke up to a hazy morning as severe dust storms hit Delhi residents today, 3 April 2026. The dust storms affected the visibility across the city and reduced the temperature to 21 degrees Celsius.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the city will witness a change in weather conditions over the weekend, and rain and thunderstorms are also expected in the NCR regions in the coming days.
The Meteorological Department has issued a special weather warning for Friday and Saturday, with a yellow alert in place. Cloudy skies and light rain are expected today, while winds could reach 30 to 50 km/h, bringing dust storms, rain, and thunderstorms across Delhi-NCR.
Saturday will also see a continuation of the unsettled weather. Wind speeds of 20 to 40 km/h are expected, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures. This unstable weather pattern is likely to persist until 8 April 2026, with thunderstorms forecast on 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8 April, indicating multiple days of rainfall.
Over the past 24 hours, Delhi-NCR recorded maximum temperatures between 36–37°C and minimum temperatures of 18–20°C. Northeasterly winds blew at 10–15 km/h, contributing to the dusty conditions.Meteorologists predict that a new Western Disturbance may develop over northwestern India, which could slightly raise maximum temperatures by 1–2°C over the next 24 hours.
