Attention Chennai Residents! Water Supply To Be Suspended| See Dates, Timings And Affected Areas

Chennai will face a 36-hour water supply suspension in several areas from May 3 due to pipeline work by CMRL. Chennai Water Cut News: Attention residents! Piped drinking water supply will be suspended for 36 hours from Saturday in several parts of the city due to pipeline interconnection work by Chennai Metro Rail Limited, Metrowater announced. Residents are advised to store sufficient drinking water in advance to meet their daily requirements.

As per a TOI report, CMRL will undertake pipeline interconnection work at Kellys Balfour Road in Anna Nagar zone (zone 8) from May 3, 8am to May 4, 8pm. Water supply from the Kilpauk distribution station will be suspended, impacting several areas across five city zones. In Zone 4, Tondiarpet will face a disruption. In the Royapuram zone, areas including Purasaiwalkam, Periamedu, Sowcarpet, Egmore, and Chintadripet will be affected. Additionally, eight localities—Otteri, Ayanavaram, Perambur, Sembium, Kilpauk, Villivakkam, Kellys, and Triplicane—in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar (Zone 6), along with parts of Anna Nagar (Zone 8) and Teynampet (Zone 9), will also experience interruptions.

Additionally, the CMWSSB is supplying 250 million litres of water daily from the Nemmeli desalination plant. An official stated that in about 20 days, Chennai will also begin receiving water from the Krishna river, a DT next report said. With current surface water levels deemed sufficient, the official expressed confidence that the city and its surrounding areas are well-equipped to manage the summer and the months ahead.
