severe traffic congestion, making daily travel a challenge for residents. The city has ranked as one of the worst in Asia for traffic delays, as per the TomTom Traffic Index 2023. Commuters in Bengaluru spend an average of 28 minutes and 10 seconds to cover just 10 kilometres. This adds up to roughly 132 extra hours every year during peak hours. Despite various measures by authorities to ease the pressure on roads, Bengaluru’s traffic remains one of the slowest in the region. The situation worsens on weekdays, with office-goers spending long hours in vehicles due to high volume, construction work, or weather conditions.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police regularly issues advisories to inform commuters about roadblocks, slow-moving traffic and alternative routes. A recent update mentions slow traffic on the Bellandur flyover towards Marathahalli due to a vehicle breakdown. Another alert was shared regarding congestion from Ramamurthy Nagar to Horamavu, as metro construction work is underway. Motorists have been asked to use the service road as an alternative.
Additionally, heavy rains have led to damaged roads and waterlogging in parts of the city. Areas like Opera Junction towards Ashirvadam and the stretch from Summanahalli Bridge to Kamakshipalya are currently facing slow-moving traffic.
