Residents in various areas of the city will experience temporary power cuts on Saturday, December 7, as the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) undertakes essential maintenance work. According to the electricity department, power supply will be disrupted from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. However, if the maintenance is completed ahead of schedule, power may be restored earlier.
Affected areas include Broadway, Thambu Chetty Street, Moore Street, Angappan(N) Street, Erabalu Street, Kachaliwarar Agraharam Street, Mukar Nala Muthu Street, Post Office Street, Second Lane Beach, Barma Bazaar, Sathiya Nagar, Sathiya Nagar B Block, Chennai Corporation Park, Port Trust, Army Quarters, Indian Navy, Army Mass, RBI Quarters, RBI Bank and Navy Nagar.

Meteorologists have also forecast the formation of a new low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to develop on December 6 or 7. Currently, the system is circulating near Sumatra Island. According to private meteorologists, this low-pressure area is likely to intensify into a depression and may make landfall between Chennai and Nagapattinam around December 12 or 13.
