In a significant anti-Naxal operation in the Nendra-Punnur forests of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, two Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces on December 13, 2024. The joint team, comprising personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and its specialized CoBRA unit, launched the operation based on intelligence inputs about the presence of Naxal operatives in the region.
The encounter began in the early hours and involved heavy gunfire. After the operation, security forces recovered two 12-bore guns, Naxal uniforms, explosives, and Maoist literature from the site. Additionally, some ammunition and other materials used in insurgent activities were seized. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed, and search operations continue in the surrounding area.
This action is part of a broader campaign in the Bastar region, where nearly 192 Naxalites have been neutralized in 2024 alone. Such operations are critical to disrupting Naxalite activity and securing the region.https://www.latestly.com/agency-news/india-news-two-naxals-killed-in-encounter-with-security-forces-in-nendra-punnur-forests-6487833.html#google_vignette
