With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a significant rise in temperatures over the next week, residents of Delhi and NCR must gear up for a sizzling stretch ahead. While there’s no rain on the horizon, a wave of strong winds and clear skies will dominate the forecast.
If you thought the 38.2 degrees Celsius recorded on 6 June was warm, brace yourself. IMD forecasts show a steady rise in maximum temperatures, climbing by 5–6 degrees Celsius over the next four to five days. By 10 and 11 June, Delhi may witness peak daytime temperatures touching 44 degrees Celsius in some areas. Minimum temperatures too will hover between 25 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius, keeping the nights warm and stuffy.
Clear Skies, Strong Winds – No Respite Yet While no heatwave conditions have been issued yet, that doesn’t mean relief is on the cards. IMD has clarified that Delhi will continue to see “mainly clear skies” till at least 13 June. From 7 to 10 June, strong surface winds ranging from 20 to 30 km/h are likely during the daytime, especially from north-westerly and westerly directions. These winds, though offering slight ventilation, will carry hot air, adding to the discomfort.
Daily Forecast: What Each Day Looks Like 7 June is expected to bring maximum temperatures of 39–41 degrees Celsius, with a partly cloudy morning turning mostly clear. Wind speeds may range from 10 to 20 km/h. From 8 to 10 June, Delhi will see clear skies with temperatures climbing to 44 degrees Celsius, accompanied by strong surface winds up to 30 km/h. The same pattern is likely to continue on 11, 12, and 13 June, though wind speeds may slightly drop. There is no indication of rainfall during this period.
