Hyderabad On Rain Alert Today: Heavy Rainfall To Lash Before Monsoon Takes A Break From…

Hyderabad braces for moderate to heavy rainfall today, with strong showers spreading from neighbouring districts into the city. A brief respite is likely from the weekend as rains ease into lighter spells. The skies over Hyderabad are set to open up once again, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of light to moderate rainfall and spells of heavy showers in some areas on Thursday, August 28. Residents have already witnessed powerful  downpours in neighbouring districts like Kamareddy and Medak, and weather bands are expected to drift towards Sangareddy, Medchal and Hyderabad through the day.

According to IMD’s forecast, Hyderabad recorded 26 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, with maximum temperatures dipping to 24 degrees Celsius and minimum at 21 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels soared close to 96%, intensifying the sticky discomfort across the city. The forecast indicates cloudy skies with rain or thundershowers till Friday, followed by lighter spells over the weekend.

From Saturday, August 30, the showers are expected to reduce to light rain or drizzle, signalling a temporary breather before the next wet spell. September 1 and 2 are likely to see only scattered rainfall with no warnings in place, allowing residents some respite from the soaking commutes and traffic snarls.

Hyderabadis have been advised to remain vigilant, as sudden heavy showers could result in waterlogging and traffic congestion in low-lying areas. Despite the disruptions, life continues at its usual pace with people braving puddled roads, power cuts in pockets, and the familiar rush under umbrellas.
