The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur districts on Friday (September 26, 2025).
It has predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by surface wind speeds reaching up to 40 km per hour. The IMD also forecast moderate rainfall with surface wind speed reaching 30 km per hour at isolated places in Malappuram and Kozhikode districts.

Meanwhile, heavy rains inundated downtown areas, most notably downtown Thampanoor in the city. Commuters faced some difficulty accessing the Central Railway Station and the main bus stand, the hub of long-distance operations.The IMD said a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal appeared poised to intensify in the next 24 hours.
