Kolkata Traffic Advisory: Check Routes Closed For Commuters Ahead of President’s Visit Till July 31

Kolkata Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the President of India’s visit on July 30 and 31, 2025. Several roads will be closed or regulated to ensure security and smooth movement during the high-level visit  In light of the President of India’s official visit to Kolkata on July 30 and 31, the city’s Commissioner of Police, Manoj Kumar Verma, has announced temporary traffic restrictions across key roads. These measures are aimed at ensuring public safety, minimising inconvenience, and securing the movement of the VVIP convoy.

The notification, issued on 25 July 2025, outlines road closures, vehicle restrictions, and movement curbs on both days. Citizens have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and avoid certain routes during specified hours.

What Roads to Avoid and When 30 July 2025 – 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm Traffic will be regulated on the following stretches Sinthee crossing – B T Road – Tala Bridge – Bidhan Sarani – Shyambazar 5-point crossing – Bhupen Bose Avenue – M J Avenue – C R Avenue – B B Ganguly Street – Lalbazar Street – BBD Bag (East) – Old Court House Street – Govt. Place (East) – R R Avenue 31 July 2025 – 8:30 am to 1:00 pm Restrictions will apply on  R R Avenue – Red Road – J N Island – Khidderpore Road – Casurina Avenue – Hospital Road – AJC Bose Flyover – Maa Flyover – E M Bypass – HUDCO Crossing – Durgapur Bridge.

Vehicle Movement and Parking Curbs Goods vehicles of all types will not be allowed on both days within Kolkata Police limits during the above-mentioned times.Tram cars and vehicles of all descriptions, including private cars and taxis, will be diverted, slowed down, or temporarily halted along parts of these corridors. Movement in and around Raj Bhawan will be fully restricted from 6:00 am on 30 July to 12:00 noon on 31 July.The advisory clarifies that vehicle diversions may extend to other arterial and feeder roads if necessary, based on the President’s travel programme.

Plan Ahead to Avoid Delays Kolkata Police have urged commuters to cooperate during these temporary restrictions, which are in addition to the regular daily traffic controls. If you’re planning to travel through central Kolkata or near Raj Bhawan, Red Road, or EM Bypass, it’s best to rework your route or leave early. While the advisory might disrupt routines for a short while, it is part of a broader effort to ensure a smooth and secure visit for the country’s highest constitutional authority.
