Mumbai’s CSMIA will shut both runways on 20 November 2025 for post-monsoon maintenance. Airlines were informed months earlier to minimise disruption while safety checks and repairs are carried out.
Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will briefly shut both its runways on November 20, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This comes after the authorities plan to can carry out annual post-monsoon runway maintenance at the airport. This step is essential for keeping flights operating safely.
The airport has been working with airlines and other partners for the past six months to make sure flight schedules and staffing are properly arranged during this period. CSMIA says it remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security for all passengers.

The official added, “Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), operator of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) – one of the world’s busiest single-runway airports, continues its commitment to maintaining safe, secure and efficient operations. As a part of a comprehensive, annual post-monsoon maintenance plan, both cross runways – RWY 09/27 and RWY 14/32 – will remain temporarily non-operational on 20 November 2025 from 1100 hrs to 1700 hrs IST”.
The maintenance will include detailed inspections, surface repairs, and technical assessments of runway lighting, markings, and drainage systems. The post-monsoon maintenance forms an integral part of CSMIA’s year-round operational readiness programme reinforcing its ‘safety-first’ approach.
