Mumbai Flight Ops Hit In response to the challenging conditions, Mumbai’s Air Traffic Control implemented a new ‘Low Visibility Take-Off’ (LVTO) protocol, allowing departures when visibility drops to 400 meters, compared to the standard 550 meters. This measure enabled 50 departures between 7:30 AM and 10:30 AM on Monday, mitigating some delays, as per a TOI report. Despite these efforts, flight schedules continued to experience delays averaging 45 minutes into the evening. Passengers are advised to check real-time flight statuses before heading to the airport.
Mumbai Local Train Services Status Mumbai’s local train network has not been spared, with services on the Central, Harbour, and Western lines experiencing delays of 10–15 minutes due to waterlogging and reduced visibility. Notably, waterlogging between Byculla and CSMT has led to some local trains being short-terminated at Kurla, Dadar, and Parel stations, where they are turning back as special services. Additionally, the newly inaugurated underground Metro-3 stations, including Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli, faced flooding, prompting partial suspension of Aqua Line services. As for today, an update on any flight or train operation disruption is awaited.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall until 8:30 AM today. Residents are urged to stay indoors and exercise caution, especially during high tide periods, as waterlogging in low-lying areas remains a significant risk.
