Mumbai is bracing for another spell of intense rain as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the city, warning of heavy to very heavy showers over the next two days. Intermittent rain is expected to affect both the island city and suburbs, with the possibility of localised disruptions.

The IMD’s Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum of 31.5 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday, while Colaba saw a high of 31.2 degrees Celsius and a low of 24.6 degrees Celsius.According to the forecast, Mumbai will remain partly cloudy with moderate rain on Thursday, but rainfall intensity is set to pick up from Friday, 27 September, with heavy to very heavy showers likely until 29 September.

Commuters have been advised to keep rain gear handy and plan travel carefully, as intermittent downpours could disrupt road and rail movement across the city.On Friday, 26 September, a high tide of 4.09 metres is expected at 02:06 hours, while a low tide of 1.76 metres is likely at 07:41 hours.Authorities have urged citizens to avoid sea-facing areas during high tide, especially when accompanied by heavy rainfall.
