Mumbai to See LPG Crisis in Next 3 Months? Here’s What Minister Bhujbal Recommends To Do

Residents of Mumbai face potential challenges regarding Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) availability due to ongoing US-Iran tensions, as warned by Maharashtra’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Chhagan Bhujbal.

Mumbai residents may see face more challenges with the availability of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the coming months. Maharashtra’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Chhagan Bhujbal, issued a stark warning on Saturday (March 29) regarding the state’s energy security. The minister warned that the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supplies could dry in the next three months as the conflict between the US and Iran continues. He urged the residents to immediately install Piped Natural Gas (PNG). He described it as a cheaper, more reliable alternative to traditional cylinders as international tensions threaten global fuel imports.

This comes after Bhujbal attended high-level discussions in Delhi. He revealed that a central circular indicates a high risk to LPG availability. The US-Iran war is disrupting supply chains, making it difficult to maintain the current flow of cooking gas cylinders.

The minister also addressed the “NOC culture” that slows down the expansion of the gas network.Currently, many housing societies refuse to let workers lay pipes through their property to reach neighbouring buildings, fearing a drop in their own gas pressure. Bhujbal aims to scrap these permission requirements, allowing gas companies to expand the network faster and reach more homes without local interference.
