The Mumbai Traffic Police has issued an advisory on temporary traffic restrictions in Andheri in view of the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Elections 2026, scheduled for January 15.
According to the notification, the entire stretch of Veera Desai Road in Andheri West — from J.P. Road Junction to Mogra Nala — will be closed to all regular vehicular traffic from 7 am on January 14 to 10 pm on January 16, 2026. Only vehicles engaged in election‑related duty will be allowed on this section during the closure.
Commuters have been advised to plan their travel in advance and use alternate routes during this period. Southbound traffic on Veera Desai Road will be diverted via Courtyard Junction, Chitrakoot Junction, and New Link Road, while vehicles approaching from J.P. Road are also instructed to take New Link Road instead of continuing on Veera Desai Road. The temporary restriction aims to ensure smooth conduct of election operations and maintain public safety during the polling and counting period.
