Mumbai will see rain intensify from August 14 with a yellow alert in place. Seven lakes are nearly 90% full, while heavy showers may cause traffic delays and waterlogging. After a brief break from heavy rain, the city is likely to pick up the pace. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, effective from tomorrow, for a period of four days. Although there is no alert for today, August 13, a little to moderate rain will occur in parts of the city. Those planning to visit Thane, Raigad, Pune, and Ratnagiri today should know that these districts have been placed under a yellow alert till August 16.
The combined capacity of these lakes currently stands at 89.20%, as per the BMC data at 6 a.m. on Aug. 12. Last year, the water levels in these lakes collectively stood at 92.55% capacity on this day, according to the BMC.
