Navi Mumbai Water Cut: Why Residents May Face Low Water Supply This Morning Despite Pipeline Repairs

Residents in Navi Mumbai and parts of Panvel faced low-pressure water after a Morbe Dam pipeline leak, triggering emergency repairs and criticism over poor public communication by NMMC officials Thursday.

Residents of Navi Mumbai and parts of Panvel in Maharashtra may experience low-pressure water supply on Friday morning following a leak in the 2,050 mm diameter main pipeline that carries water from Morbe Dam. The repair work was completed on Thursday. The civic body said full restoration takes time as the pipeline draws water from nearly 60 km away, and rebuilding pressure in such a large line is a gradual process, according to media reports. NMMC has assured residents that normal water supply with adequate pressure will resume by Friday morning, in line with the regular schedule.

The pipeline supplies water to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) area and parts of Panvel Municipal Corporation. The leak occurred near the Bhokarpada Water Treatment Plant, forcing officials to immediately stop water supply from the plant to carry out emergency repairs
