Quiet but busy hustle for votes a day before PMC, PCMC polls

Pune: The roaring rallies, firecracker salutes, fluttering banners, and high-voltage roadshows, trademarks of the last day of campaigning, ended on Tuesday. But a day before Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad go to vote for local representatives, Wednesday was no quiet day for the candidates either.

Most spent the day travelling through their constituencies with the Election Commission (EC)-mandated fewer than five people — meeting voters, holding meetings with their party supporters, directing polling agents, and fine-tuning booth-level arrangements.

he candidates are holding individual meetings keeping in view EC guidelines. We are also ensuring that every elector goes to vote; it does not matter whom they vote for, as when people exercise their franchise, democracy wins. Other than that, our volunteers will assist people in finding their polling booths and in any other way. We are also calling up people as part of our outreach efforts,
