Rain in 8 districts of MP, 10 districts of UP: Fog in UP caused 15 vehicle collisions; snowfall in Himachal and Uttarakhand, avalanche in Atal Tunnel

Rain and snowfall continued in several states across northern India. Ten districts in Uttar Pradesh experienced heavy rainfall on Tuesday, plunging Lucknow and Kanpur into darkness during the day. Hailstorms lasted for half an hour in four districts, including Unnao. Fog enveloped 20 districts, causing 15 vehicle collisions in six districts, including Unnao.

Due to the activation of a Western Disturbance, rain fell in eight districts of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. Hailstorms damaged crops in Gwalior and Mandsaur. Two people were killed by lightning in Shivpuri and Chhatarpur.

Avalanches struck two locations in Lahaul-Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, on Tuesday, briefly burying a vehicle at the Atal Tunnel South Portal. Snow fell on the high peaks of Kinnaur-Lahaul, and rain fell in Shimla and Manali. Tabo in Lahaul-Spiti recorded a low of minus 7.9 degrees Celsius. In Uttarakhand, intermittent snowfall occurred in Harsil, Uttarkashi.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in seven districts of Rajasthan. On Tuesday, dense fog enveloped several districts, including Sikar and Jaipur. The cold wave caused the minimum temperature in Sikar to drop to 7 degrees.

 A yellow alert for dense fog has been issued in Delhi. A dense fog warning has been issued for 15 districts in Punjab. A hailstorm alert has been issued for 20 districts in Madhya Pradesh.
