Rain and thunderstorms are expected to affect parts of northern India on February 16 and the next few days, with temperatures in Delhi likely to climb close to 30 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Isolated rainfall and snowfall are likely over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, along with light rain and thundershowers over Punjab and Haryana between February 17 and 18, the IMD said in its weather bulletin.
A fresh western disturbance and associated upper-air systems will influence weather across the western Himalayan region from February 17 onwards, it added. Under its impact, isolated rain and snowfall are likely over Jammu & Kashmir from February 17 to 19, and over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on February 17 and 18.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain in the 27-29 degrees Celsius range through February 17 and dip slightly to 26-28 degrees Celsius on February 18, remaining above normal for this time of year, the IMD said.While conditions remained dry, light rain may offer some relief in parts of the state from February 17 due to the approaching western disturbance. Farmers have been advised to monitor crops closely and carry out light irrigation as needed.
