Rain to Drench Chennai till July 24: IMD Issues 5-Day Alert for Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm; Check Forecast

Rain in Chennai: Heavy rain will occur in parts of Tamil Nadu, including the capital city – Chennai. Owing to the prediction, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for 5 days.

Residents of Chennai are set to witness heavy rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert in Chennai for the next five days. Other districts in Tamil Nadu are also on alert for heavy rain. Due to the heavy rain in the city, several key routes were waterlogged, throwing the normal routine lives of the residents out of gear. As per the Met Office, thunderstorms and strong winds will accompany rain in the city.

A solo weather forecast on X, formerly Twitter, explained: “With the East West Shear Zone persisting around Chennai latitude North Tamilnadu and may continue to have a window of about 48 hours for Thunderstorms. Few places along the AP / TN border may see intense spell of #Rains later in the day depending on real time winds.

22 July: Light rain falls under a generally cloudy sky, with temperatures remaining steady. Conditions feel warm but manageable. 23 July: The sky clears slightly, remaining partly cloudy through the day. No rainfall is expected. 24 July: Weather stays dry with a partly cloudy sky and rising temperatures. No warnings are in effect. 25 July: The day sees clear spells with some cloud cover and warmer conditions. No rain is expected.
