Moderate fog was witnessed in parts of Delhi on Monday as the national capital woke up to a chilly morning. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature at 5.30 am was 11.4 degrees Celsius.The weather department has predicted a generally cloudy sky with a possibility of very light to light rain accompanied by thunderstorms today.The maximum temperature today is predicted to hover around 18 degrees Celsius, it said.
Several trains were delayed in Delhi due to unfavourable weather conditions, while the Delhi airport said that low visibility procedures were in progress which may impact flight operations.Meanwhile, the air quality in the national capital continued to be in the ‘very poor’ category as the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 316 at 6 am, as per the data of the Central Pollution Control Board.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good,’ 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory,’ 101 and 200 ‘moderate,’ 201 and 300 ‘poor,’ 301 and 400 ‘very poor,’ and 401 and 500 ‘severe.’On Sunday, the maximum temperature in the city was 18.6 degrees Celsius, 0.7 notch below the normal average, and the minimum temperature was 9.4 degrees Celsius.
