Bengaluru is preparing for a spell of wet weather this week, with rain expected on 3 and 4 December and lighter showers likely on the 5th. The city is set to see misty mornings and cooler temperatures that may fall to around 18 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures expected to stay near 24 degrees Celsius. Nearby districts such as Chikkaballapura and Kolar are also likely to experience showers and thunderstorms during this period.

The latest change in weather comes after Cyclone Ditwah weakened into a depression. The weakened system crossed the coast near Marakkanam, north of Puducherry, late on Sunday night. Weather trackers note that the system is expected to lose strength further and drift southwest, but it will continue to bring rain to parts of Karnataka over the next few days.

Coastal districts are likely to see varying levels of rainfall. Dakshina Kannada and Udupi may receive moderate showers and occasional thunder. Uttara Kannada is expected to see lighter rain in isolated areas. In the south interior region, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, Mandya, Shivamogga and Tumakuru are expected to receive light to moderate rain at different times through the day. Ballari, Vijayanagara, Chitradurga and Davanagere may see light showers as well.

Weather observers have also noted the possibility of scattered rain in Kolar, Bengaluru, Chikkaballapura, Ramanagara, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Mysuru. These areas may record between three millimetres and thirty millimetres of rainfall. Kodagu, Udupi and the Ghats of Dakshina Kannada may also see light to moderate thunderstorms with similar intensity. Other parts of the state may receive light rain at isolated locations.

Conditions over Tamil Nadu are expected to become more active as the circulation moves inland. North interior Tamil Nadu, central interior Tamil Nadu and the Nilgiris may see widespread moderate to heavy showers, with some places likely to receive very heavy rainfall.
