The INDIA bloc has called a 12-hour Odisha bandh today demanding withdrawal of the MMDR Bill, resignation of the CEC and alleging errors in the voter list. Seven parties including Congress are supporting the bandh.
The impact of the bandh was seen at various places since morning. At Cuttack Railway Station, a scuffle broke out between Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Congress workers during a rail roko attempt. RPF detained Congress workers.
Buses are not plying from Netaji Bus Terminal, protesters blocked roads at Master Canteen in Bhubaneswar. However, bus services from Baramunda were normal in the morning. NH-16 was blocked in Bhadrak. Schools, shops, markets and vehicular movement remained closed at many places
