A Khalistani organisation has issued threats to blow up the parking area of Halwara Airport and the Dhuri-Delhi railway track in Punjab. Alongside this, seven schools in Ludhiana received bomb threats through email.
The schools that received threats include Bal Bharti School in Dugri, DAV School in Sarabha Nagar Extension, Sacred Heart School, The Asian School, and Bharatiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) branches in Kitchlu Nagar, Udham Singh Nagar and Sector 39.
After receiving the threats, school authorities immediately informed the police. Police teams reached the schools, halted examinations, evacuated students and conducted searches on the premises.SHO Inspector Vijay Kumar of Sarabha Nagar police station said an email containing the threats had been received. Following the alert, anti-sabotage teams carried out extensive checks at the schools. However, no suspicious object was found during the searches.
Police said cyber teams are tracing the origin of the threatening email. Apart from Ludhiana, similar bomb threats were also reported at schools in Sangrur district.
The threatening email, allegedly sent in the name of the “Khalistan National Army”, referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar as enemies of Sikhs and farmers.
The email sent to the official IDs of Sacred Heart School, Bal Bharati Public School and The Asian School stated that Khalistan supporters were not against children and warned schools to “save your children”.
The message also referred to former DGP Mustafa as a terrorist. Along with the school threats, the email warned of explosions at Halwara Airport’s parking area and on railway tracks along the Dhuri-Delhi route.
According to the email, IED blasts were supposed to take place in Ludhiana schools at 11:11 am, though no such incident occurred. It also mentioned possible blasts at Halwara Airport parking at 1:11 pm and on the Dhuri-Delhi railway route between 2:11 pm and 9:11 pm.
