The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has implemented a temporary traffic diversion on a 1.250-km section of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor from May 22 to June 8. This measure aims to ensure commuter safety during slope stabilization works necessary to prevent landslides, especially during monsoon rains.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a temporary traffic diversion route on a 1.250-km stretch of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor from May 22 to June 8 in order to ensure safety for commuters during the period of slope stabilisation works. As explained by the authorities, the temporary traffic diversion route is imposed on the fourth phase of the Ganeshpur-Dehradun stretch of the expressway, where the slope stabilisation process is currently taking place after clearance had been obtained and an additional plot of forest land was diverted for the project.
According to the officials, this restriction is imposed temporarily in order to facilitate the construction process as well as avoid any risks on the risky stretches of the route. The authorities said that the slope stabilisation was being carried out in order to make the hill stretches strong enough to avoid landslides under adverse weather conditions, including the monsoon rains.
The NHAI has advised travelers making use of the road to adhere to the route marked out by the authority and cooperate with traffic personnel for an easy and hassle-free passage through the diversion period. Traffic management teams have also been stationed to manage vehicular movement while the process goes on.
The National Highways Authority of India has stated that its top priority will always be commuter safety during the process of stabilization of the road. The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month. It is one of the government’s major infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity between Delhi and Dehradun and significantly reducing travel time between the two cities.
The expressway project is expected to improve regional connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and enhance transportation efficiency across several parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
