In view of the Kanwar Yatra 2026, traffic restrictions and diversions will remain in effect across several parts of Delhi from 29 July to 12 August 2026. Major routes including Wazirabad Road, GT Road, Vikas Marg, Pusta Road, Loni Road, Asha Ram Tyagi Marg, and adjoining roads are expected to witness heavy congestion due to the movement of Kanwariyas and restrictions on heavy transport vehicles. Commuters are advised to plan their travel in advance, use alternate routes wherever possible, allow additional travel time, and strictly follow the directions issued by the Delhi Traffic Police to ensure a safe and hassle-free journey.
The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the Kanwar Yatra 2026, which will be observed from 30 July to 11 August 2026. A large number of Kanwar pilgrims are expected to pass through the National Capital en route to Haryana and Rajasthan, prompting special traffic management measures to ensure public safety and smooth vehicular movement.
As part of the arrangements, Heavy Transport Vehicles (HTVs), except city buses, will face restrictions and diversions from 29 July to 12 August on major corridors, including Wazirabad Road, Vikas Marg, GT Road, Pusta Road, Asha Ram Tyagi Marg (Road No. 66), and Loni Road. Entry of heavy vehicles from several Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border points such as Maharajpur, Apsara, Seemapuri, DLF, Bhopura, Loni and Sonia Vihar borders will also remain restricted, with traffic diverted via NH-9 and NH-44 wherever applicable.
Authorities have advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance, avoid the affected routes, use alternate roads where possible, and follow traffic police instructions. Traffic congestion and delays are expected on key arterial roads throughout the Kanwar Yatra period.
