The restrictions cover goods carrier vehicles, tempos, trucks, trailers, mixers, tractors and other heavy vehicles. BEST and ST buses and passenger-carrying vehicles are excluded from this restriction, as specified in the traffic notification
Mumbai Traffic Police on Tuesday stated that it has laid out permanent rules covering entry and exit points, restricted vehicles, speed limits and activities prohibited on the Dharmaveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj also called as the Mumbai Coastal Road.
The Mumbai Coastal Road is connected to the Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link through the Connector Bridge, allowing traffic to travel between the Coastal Road and the Bandra Worli Sea Link.
The South Bound and North Bound stretches were opened for traffic on August 15, 2025, with the route providing connectivity between Marine Drive and the Bandra Toll Plaza.
Mumbai Coastal Road par South & North-bound entry/exit points designated junctions par available hain, including Bandra Toll Plaza, Worli Sea Link, Haji Ali, Lotus Junction, Amarsons Garden and Marine Drive. Two-wheelers, three-wheelers, goods carriers, trucks, trailers, tractors and animal-drawn vehicles are prohibited on the route. BEST/ST buses and permitted passenger vehicles are exempted as per the notification.
Speed limits: 80 kmph on straight stretches, 60 kmph inside tunnels and 40 kmph at turns/merging sections. Stopping, passenger pick-up/drop-off (except BEST buses), photography and video recording are prohibited. Motorists are advised to follow designated entry/exit points, speed limits and traffic restrictions for safe and smooth travel.
